During a military exercise off the coast of Wales, a Wildcat helicopter from the Royal Navy was filmed shooting down drones with high precision.

The action was part of Exercise Sharpshooter, a training led by the HMS Dauntless destroyer that lasted five days and involved over 350 British military personnel and employees from the company QinetiQ.

The HMS Dauntless utilized various weapons, including Martlet missiles, cannons, and the Phalanx defense system, to neutralize simulated threats from both the air and sea, including drones and unmanned vessels.

The maneuvers simulated scenarios similar to those faced in the Red Sea, where another British ship, the HMS Diamond, had previously intercepted real attacks conducted by the Houthis.

British authorities praised the crew’s performance, highlighting the effectiveness and speed of their response to a series of simulated attacks. According to the ship’s commander, the exercise was essential for preparing the team for future missions, such as deploying the Dauntless in the Indo-Pacific later this year, where it will integrate with the UK’s carrier strike group.
